Are you glad that Senator Patrick Leahy is going to try to create a commission to "investigate" the crimes of the Bush administration? Well...don't celebrate yet. Listen and learn...the commission is nothing more than a white wash. Nobody will be held accountable and the criminals will once again get away with a multitude of crimes.

I know that it’s been considered improper to bring up Hitler in the context of what the Bush administration did for the past 7 years, but I wish someone would explain to me how Bush’s powers, as now revealed by those secret legal memos, were different from the dictatorial powers exercised by Hitler after the terrorist attack on the Reichstag in 1933, soon after Hitler became chancellor.

Glenn Greenwald’s description of the common liberal sentiment that “Bush’s secrecy theories and assertions of unchallengeable executive power were grave and tyrannical threats to liberty” is spot-on. But as Greenwald notes, these same assertions of power and privilege are no less grave in the Obama administration. The similarities between the Obama administration’s response to the 9th Circuit Court’s ruling in the Al-Haramain case, requiring the government to turn over classified information and the legal views espoused under the Bush-Cheney administration by the likes of John Yoo and David Addington are simply stunning.

We didn’t elect President Obama to preserve the Bush administration’s anti-contistutional executive power grab. We elected him to end it.

Patriots must defeat, impeach, and prosecute the traitors in government with the rule of law while making it very uncomfortable for them, but not harming a hair on their heads. Israeli Arabs, who are Palestinians who remained in their towns and villages after the 1948 creation of Israel, are not a threat to the Jewish state. The real threat is Israel's racist insistence on maintaining the Jewishness of the state by any means.

The idea of maintaining a predominant Jewish majority, if not an all-Jewish population, is not new. It is inherent in the Zionist ideology and a continuation of the systematic expulsions and ethnic cleansing that continue today inside Israel proper and the occupied West Bank. Israel still refuses to acknowledge its original sin, let alone apologize for it. It continues to fulfill its dream through racist policies, territorial expansion, expropriation of lands and eviction of Palestinian inhabitants.

Back in 1996, a group of Americans writing for an Israeli think tank published a paper for Israeli Likud Party leader Benjamin Netanyahu called “A Clean Break: A New Strategy for Securing the Realm.” In addition to calling for Saddam Hussein’s replacement, it also advised an overthrow or destabilization of the governments of Syria, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia and Iran, thus leading to something akin to a “Greater US-Israel Co-Prosperity Sphere.”
