A federal appeals court had some advice Friday for anyone whose reputation gets trashed on talk radio: Don't bother suing for slander, because no one reasonably expects objective facts from the typical talk show host.
"Millions of people do listen to talk radio," she said. "A lot of talk radio hosts do make an effort to be accurate. ... People believe them and rely upon them, particularly in consumer cases."
For those of you that are veterans in the “Information Wars” you will recall that in 2007 Glenn Beck equated Ron Paul supporters with terrorists and people “like Timothy McVeigh.”
Now our “great friend of Liberty” Glenn Beck is telling us that there is no such thing as FEMA camps, and that it is completely debunked - his chief source of information - “Popular Mechanics” the Hearst publication. If you look up “Yellow Journalism” in Wikipedia- you will learn all about how Hearst Publications operate.
They're wasted at the White House, where scoops are doled out, not uncovered. The day of a typical White House correspondent consists, literally, of waiting to be told things. Legitimate security concerns and a tightly scripted political world keep the presidential press corps physically corralled and informationally hostage.

The BBC Trust is now a mouthpiece for the Israeli lobby which abused Bowen.
But I am mincing my words.
The trust – how I love that word which so dishonours everything about the BBC – has collapsed, in the most shameful way, against the usual Israeli lobbyists who have claimed – against all the facts – that Bowen was wrong to tell the truth.
That's right, according to AP tonight, following the just released final ruling [PDF] from the 3-judge election contest court in Minnesota, Senator-elect Al Franken (D-MN) is not the "winner" of the election. Rather, he's merely the "leading vote-getter."
Are they kidding?! "Leading vote-getter"?! Apparently not.
Will that be how AP reports the results of elections on Election Nights from now on?
Essentially, the Act would federalize critical infrastructure security. Since many of our critical infrastructure systems (banks, telecommunications, energy) are in the hands of the private sector, the bill would create a major shift of power away from users and companies to the federal government. This is a potentially dangerous approach that favors the dramatic over the sober response.
